I Walk Alone
Another loneliness poem from high school, but it still manages to convey my refusal to give up, however often I may have felt like it.
There's many a road that one walks down.
Some make you smile and some make you frown.
Some are unknown.
Some walk with lovers and others with friends.
The one I walk seems like it never ends.
'Cause I walk alone.
Of all the roads that I have walked
No one came along with me and talked
And the sun never shone.
I have love and want to share it
But I have to wait so I grin and bear it
And walk alone.
I should have to walk like this each day
But I'll keep on walking anyway
'Till my destination's known.
I'll keep walking 'til my troubles have fled.
I know there's something for me ahead.
Yet I walk alone.
All these walks left an emotional scar
But I know I'll make it 'cause I've come this far
And I'm still not through.
I'd walk from the north to the south pole
And never rest 'til I reach my goal
And that goal: to walk with you.
