Homesick
This is the second poem/song written for The Avalon Brigade, the first of which is "The Wings of Love". Interestingly enough, it was written at a time when I was between homes myself, as my dad had just retired from the Air Force and we had not yet settled into a new home.
I'm not really sure where I'm goin',
And I've got doubts about where I've been.
I'm tryin' to decide who I really am,
But all it does is make my head spin.
But in my head I've got some memories
Of a place that since childhood I've known.
It was a place that always had the answers.
I remember that place. I called it my home.
CHORUS
Well, the road that leads ahead is long.
I gotta find the strength to carry me on.
When I finally reach that place, I'll never be alone.
In the end there's just one place. That one place is home.
There's a light at the end of the tunnel,
But I don't know how far away it is.
I know the light shines in the window
Of the one place I never thought I'd miss. (To Chorus)
I'm not really sure where I'm goin'.
I only know where I want to go.
The two parts of me are always fightin'.
The kid part wants his freedom. The man longs for home. (To Chorus)
